Designed by Frank Butler for Catalina Yachts USA, the Jaguar 25 was made under licence by Jaguar Yachts on Canvey Island off the River Thames in the UK. The boat was popular both in the US and the UK and had a production run from the late 70s to the early 90s.
Windfall was a Mk2 25, which had a little more headroom inside a couple of rigging changes from the Mk1. She was also a bilge keel version which had the advantage of staying upright when drying out and had been fitted with an inboard Volvo Penta 2001 1-cylinder 8hp diesel engine. Most of these boats started life with an outboard but it seems common to install an inboard in the large rear berth that they had.
She had several owners, but 1 owner had an ongoing relationship with her for many years and we purchased Windfall from him in 2011.
We sailed on Windermere for 3 months from Aug 2011 before having the boat trailered a yard closer to home for an extensive refit. She returned to Windemere in May 2012 until we put her up for sale in late 2015. She sold in the spring of 2016 and we went on a motorhome adventure until we purchased Alegra in 2020.

We had a great time with her, we learnt a lot about sailing, boat handling and maintenance. Windermere was a safe place to learn especially with Catherine being so young at this point. Every time we turned on the engine (it was extremely noisy), Catherine would just sleep! We were able to secure her car seat on one side of the table and we made her a play area in the front berth.
We also sailed with our dog Halle, a black lab who loved the boat. She also loved going across in the dinghy and would start to get excited as we started the outboard!
Here are some of the tasks we completed on Windfall.
